Lidl is committed to public consultation and we are therefore delighted to be able to provide members of the local community with an overview of the proposed development. This website enables you to view the public consultation leaflet, which was recently sent to local addresses, as well as download the most recent plans for the site.

The existing Lidl store has served the local community since 1998 and it has been a great success. However, the small size and layout mean it is unable to meet the needs of both our customers and our own operational requirements. The Lidl store will therefore be relocated to the land off Oldlands Farm.

The site measures 1.1 hectares (2.72 acres) and it is currently undeveloped, with Rolls Royce located to the south. The site forms part of the Oldlands Farm strategic employment site allocation and already benefits from planning permission for a mix of uses, including retail.

Access to the site will be from the Oldlands Farm access road which connects directly to the Felpham Relief Road via the A29/A259 roundabout.


Lidl proposes to redevelop the site to provide a new single storey neighbourhood foodstore. The store will have a sales area of 1,410 sq m and a gross internal area 2,159 sq m. The building will be positioned to the rear of the site with the car park located in front of the store, close to Felpham Relief Road (A259).

The proposed store will be developed in line with Lidl’s new store concept which was formulated with the view of providing the customer with an improved shopping experience. Accordingly, the store will benefit from customer toilets, baby changing facilities and longer tills with bag packing area. The store will be a modern high quality building will have a fully glazed shopfront which will face across the car park towards Felpham Relief Road. The store will be the first Lidl store in the area to generate electricity from solar panels which will be installed on the roof. These will be capable of generating up to 25% of the store’s electricity.

The proposed development will provide 149 car parking spaces to the front of the store including 10 disabled parking spaces, 11 parent and child parking spaces and will be the first Lidl in the area to provide 2 electric vehicle charging spaces. Car parking will be free to customers. Pedestrian access will be provided along the Oldlands Farm access road. Cycle parking will be provided to the side of the store.

To put the proposed Lidl into context, Lidl’s existing store in Bognor Regis has a gross internal area of 1,207 sq m and a sales area of 986 sq m.

Opportunity to comment

The importance of community consultation is well recognised by Lidl, so we are inviting residents within the area of Bognor Regis to voice their opinion on the proposed Lidl store. We hope that everyone will embrace this opportunity to comment on our proposals, whether it be positive or negative. All comments received will be considered when finalising the design of the new foodstore.

If you are keen to see a relocated Lidl foodstore with the associated benefits in Bognor Regis, we would welcome your help and support. Please show your support for the proposed Lidl application in two ways:

1. Visit and sign our online petition. Please encourage your friends and family members (over 18 and living near the site) to sign the petition if they haven’t already.
