Rapleys’ specialist dedicated Health & Safety team provides expert, tailored compliance services designed to improve safety within construction and help clients to meet all regulatory and legislative requirements.

We are experienced in delivering expert advice across developments of all sizes, from smaller refurbishments through to multi-million pound regeneration schemes. We operate as an advisor to clients, their design teams and contractors to identify risks early and provide management and mitigation strategies to ensure compliance is maintained at all stages of the project programme.

Construction (Design and Management) Regulations Services

Principal Designer (CDM Regulations): We undertake the Principal Designer role on behalf of the client, taking responsibility for managing and coordinating health and safety during the construction phase. Our role ensures that the designers comply with duties by ensuring foreseeable risks are identified, eliminated or controlled via design. We facilitate efficient communication and work together with the design team to ensure health and safety is top priority from concept development, through to construction and to handover.

Principal Designer Advisor (CDM Regulations): Providing suitable and sufficient support to the appointed Principal Contractor or Principal Designer – in complying with their duties under CDM 2015. Our role provides a proactive approach in managing the design risk management process and promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout the project.

Client CDM Advisor (CDM Regulations): Our role would involve assisting our clients to understand and discharge their duties as identified under CDM 2015 through the life of the project – from concept design through to completion.

Site Inspections (Health and Safety): Providing independent competent CDM health and safety inspection during the construction phase. Our audits will provide assurance that works on site are being undertaken safely and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, demonstrating best practices on site.

CPD Sessions: Delivering tailored Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions focused on key elements of the CDM Regulations advising on all elements of CDM including the Law, the Duty Holders and all the required documentation.

Building Safety Services

Principal Designer – Building Regulations: Commissioned by the nominated Client duty-holder role to assist with the undertaking of planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating the design to  ensure the project is fully compliance in accordance with the Building Regulations and other associated legislation. Our appointment is directly by the client, with our involvement typically between RIBA Stages 3-5.

Principal Designer Advisor (Building Regulations): Providing suitable and sufficient support to the appointed Principal Contractor or Principal Designer – in complying with their duties under Building Regulations. Our role provides a proactive approach in assisting with the compliance management in accordance with Building Regulations.  Our support including technical assistance and procedural guidance, specific design lead workshop with the design team and creating and updating the necessary compliance trackers.

Client Advisor (Building Regulations): Supporting and assisting the client duty-holder with their key obligations defined within the Regulations. Our services will include undertaking due diligence reviews of the appointed Principal Contractor and design team, competency assessments for the proposed dutyholders as defined under the Regulations, assisting with the de-risking any significant hazards or unusual risks throughout the design and / or construction stages.

Principal Contractor Advisor (Building Regulations): Supporting and providing comfort to the nominated Principal Contractor in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities within the Regulations.  Our services would include assisting with the monitoring of design changes and demonstrating compliance during the construction phase, supporting with the handover documentation regarding commissioning in relation to Regulation 38 and Golden Tread requirements.
