Alex is a Partner in the Planning team. He joined Rapleys in August 2022 having previously worked at JLL, Lichfields and Turley. Alex has coordinated and successfully delivered a variety of challenging projects on greenfield and brownfield sites across London and the UK with a particular focus on the following sectors: industrial and logistics, residential, retail, leisure and mixed-use.
Projects of note include obtaining full planning permission for circa 16,000 sqm of flexible employment floorspace on behalf of Coal Pension Properties at Patchway Trading Estate, together with securing full planning permission for the repurposing of an underperforming out-of-town retail park in Stevenage to secure circa 9,000 sqm of floorspace (within Classes E, B2 and B8) on behalf of Industrial Property Investment Fund (IPIF). Also, on behalf of Connected Living London (a JV between TfL and Grainger) he was key in delivering a resolution to grant planning permission for 460 build to rent homes in Ealing.
As well as successfully coordinating and negotiating large scale planning applications, Alex is adept at managing large multi-disciplinary teams and being the driving force behind them when delivering results on behalf of the client. Alex prepares a wide range of reports and feasibility studies for funds, institutional investor clients and developers to inform site acquisitions and disposals. He also advises clients on the development potential of existing assets / land and identifies clear and coherent strategies on how to maximise their value through the planning system.
