We now have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Partner to join our Planning Division in Manchester. This is a truly exciting time to join the business as we undertake our new growth and development plans. This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a mixture of office and home working.

Job Purpose

Engaged in the ongoing management of projects as agreed by the Partner in accordance with the project plan. Acting as planning practitioner as well as supporting the Partner in their role within the team and as required within the department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and managing planning activities
  • Day to day management of projects including project planning, reviews, WiP/invoicing and debts
  • The management of projects with a view to meeting agreed client requirements and deadlines in accord with the QA system
  • Quality control of output of projects in accordance with the approved QA system including preparing project plans and fee agreements
  • Contributing to the development and management of the wider business including work winning and marketing
  • Client management in support of Partner
  • Ability to represent clients at public meetings
  • Strong professional report writing skills
  • Management of immediate staff including timesheets, holidays, CPD and training
  • Supervision of junior members of staff
  • Maintaining a thorough technical knowledge in the field of town planning and technical expertise
  • Maintaining professional membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
  • Responsible for contributing to own continuing professional development through attendance at appropriate training courses and internal CPD sessions and wider reading.

  • Maintaining client contacts in respect of project working
  • Ensuring that the quality of advice and work meets the required standard.

  • Chartered RTPI.
  • Ability to build and manage new and existing client relationships.
  • Proven track record of an exceptional level of competence and breadth of expertise.
  • Business development skills – ability to secure significant new business for the firm as a whole.
  • Management of the day-to-day workload of a Rapleys team and effectively control profitability.
  • Responsibility for the direction and performance of a substantial specified area of the business.
  • Maintain and support Rapleys Core Values and Culture.
