The project
We have been fully retained since 2017 to advise on the disposal of stores that are no longer required as part of the Argos portfolio across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
With the change in customer behaviour and stores migrating into Sainsbury’s main stores there was no longer a requirement for stand alone units in a number of locations.
Our solution
- We have employed a number of different strategies to mitigate this liability from surrendering back to the landlord, subletting and temporary letting this space.
- Over this period, we have successfully put in place strategies on over 100 of these units all of which are now back with the landlords.
- These tailored strategies have saved Sainsbury’s millions of pounds from both their leasehold and dilapidation liabilities.
