The project

Rapleys Land Development Project Management team have been appointed by Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation to provide Project and Utilities Management services for the implementation of the required utility upgrades at Standalone Farm.

The farmyard is currently open February-November, with a winter closure in place. The current service offering includes visiting the animals, a large kids outdoor play, a cafeteria, tractor rides and educational talks.

The sitewide improvements are essential for the visitor attraction,  increasing the capabilities for a year-round offering, Glamping and hosting events.

Our solution

The appointment includes:

  • Orchestrating a desktop and site based utilities survey, enabling the accurate plotting of on-site assets.
  • Working alongside EV charging companies to create a not-for-profit solution enabling visitors to charge their vehicles.
  • Understanding the sitewide power and fibre requirements to enable additional lighting and heating, entertainment hook ups and electrified camping solutions.
  • Provide an alternative foul drainage solution, as the existing cesspit solution was high-maintenance and costly.

Rapleys worked with the Client to understand the site constraints, ensuring that the solution provided was appropriate for the long-term aspirations of the Farm.
