Redevelopment of former brickworks, Sandy Lane, Worksop

The project

Over a number of years, on behalf of Dooba (CEG), Rapleys has secured:

• Outline permission via a remitted appeal, following a High Court challenge to the original appeal refusal for an Asda superstore, 17,5000sqm B class uses, petrol filling station
• Reserved matters for the Asda and subsequent sale of that part of the site to Asda – now built
• Reserved matters for circa Phase 1 4,000sqm of B class uses – now built
• Full permission for three A3/5 roadside units, now built
• Full permission for a Travis Perkins – currently under construction
• Various changes of use within Phase 1 to enable E class uses
• Discharge of conditions relating to the above permissions.

This is a large site in Worksop that is a top priority for the Council and Local Economic Partnership to see regenerated for employment purposes. Rapleys ongoing instruction involves providing wide ranging planning advice to CEG as to the best approach to bring forward the remainder of the site to reflect changing employment markets and ensure a fully developed and operational asset. The planning permissions secured so far represent a good example of support for applications that procure much needed site regeneration and employment opportunities for local people.
